Drayage Costs
Lower Your Drayage Bill Before Your Freight Ships.
Drayage, also called material handling, is performed and billed by the show’s general service contractor (GSC), such as Freeman, GES, or Shepard. It covers moving your freight from the dock or advance warehouse to your booth and back out again, billed per 100 lbs (CWT). B&P doesn’t perform drayage, and nobody can change the GSC’s rate.
What we control is how your freight arrives, and that decides whether you pay the base rate or a stack of surcharges. We get it there on target, crated, consolidated into fewer shipments, and on a dedicated truck that unloads cleanly. That keeps your drayage at the base rate and avoids overtime, special handling, and late-arrival fees.

Q. What is trade show drayage?
Trade show drayage is the movement of exhibit freight from the show dock (or advance warehouse) to your booth space, and back out after the show closes. It is performed and billed by the show's general service contractor (GSC) by weight (CWT), and it is where most exhibitors overspend. B&P handles the trucking to and from the show and makes sure your freight arrives on target, crated, and consolidated, so drayage charges stay at the base rate. Q. Should I ship to the advance warehouse or direct to show site?
Advance warehouse shipping is safer for most exhibitors: your freight arrives days or weeks early, is confirmed received, and is guaranteed to be at your booth at move-in. Direct-to-show shipping can save on advance warehouse fees but requires hitting a tight marshalling yard window. A missed target date means wait time or forced surcharges. B&P manages either, and can hold freight at our own Las Vegas warehouse until your ideal delivery window.
Q. When should my exhibit freight arrive in Las Vegas before a show?
For large shows like CES, SEMA, or CONEXPO, plan for freight to arrive at the advance warehouse one to two weeks before move-in. Advance warehouses typically open about 30 days before the show and close a few days before move-in. B&P schedules the linehaul backward from your target window and can store your exhibit at our Las Vegas warehouse if it needs to arrive early.
Q. Can B&P store my booth between Las Vegas shows?
Yes. B&P operates its own Las Vegas warehouse and secured yard, not a partner referral. We receive your booth after move-out, inspect and store it, and stage it for the next show's advance warehouse window. For exhibitors doing multiple Las Vegas shows a year, this eliminates round-trip freight costs entirely.
Q. Does B&P work with show general contractors like Freeman and GES?
Yes. We coordinate directly with the show's general service contractor, whether Freeman, GES, Shepard, or others. The GSC performs the material handling at the show. We help you complete the Material Handling Agreement (MHA), hit your target dates, check in at the marshalling yard, and book your outbound freight before the show closes so your exhibit doesn't become forced freight.
